In this unit children learn to create a multimedia presentation using text, images, and sounds. They will be taught to create links between pages and show sensitivity to the needs of their audience.
Children will apply what they have learnt in this unit when communicating and presenting information in music, art, history, geography, science, design and technology.
Where this unit fits in
Children may have created individual multimedia pages in earlier units. This unit assumes that children are familiar with tree diagrams.

Aim: To create an "ICT help file" using Power Point to provide easy access to new skills learnt over the year. The presentation will have a contents page followed by individual pages; all systematically linked from the contents page and Glossary or index if appropriate. Each new skill will have its own slide with detail of how 2... to remind you when you haven't done the skill for a while.
My Activities
Task One:
LO: To consider the advantages of using multimedia and think about- page layout, design and features that are appropriate to use for this type of presentation.
- create a title page - My ICT Help Files, including your name as the author
- Contents Page
- My Password clues
- ICT Suite rules
- Health and Safety
- E-Safety (Internet Safety)
Task Two:
LO: To link pages from the contents page to individual slides and locations on a page where appropriate.
Using the knowledge learnt so far, identify the individual skills and create a slide for each, adding to the contents page and make the links as previous.
Remember: Action Settings
Task Three:
LO: To organise structure of the presentation and begin to plan sections as they come up.
Make a new slide (How to create hyperlinks). Give it a heading and reference back to contents page. In your own words write a set of instructions for this.
EXT: Other skills that have been learnt can also be added to the presentation. How 2...
Task Four:
LO: To research and create hyperlinks to external websites.
Search the internet for E-Safety site- THINK U KNOW
Revise points from E-Safety lessons and think about what points would be useful to write up.
Make a direct link to the site
Add other E-Safety sites you have found during your search and make direct links from the contents page.
Don't forget to add a new slide How to Hyperlink to external websites, list in contents as usual.
EXT: Search for E-Safety on a search engine of your choice with your buddy. Discuss imilarities to the Think U Know website. Add any issues to your own presentation and make new slide and to the sites for any other things you feel are important. Don't forget to make the links from the contents page to the relavant slides including the sites as an external link.
our slides, test with buddys this is successful
Task Five:
LO: To add navigation forward and back, on each page and to contents page as Homepage
Add navigation buttons to each of your slides, test with your buddies and discuss if any improvements can be made.
QUESTION: Are animation effects suitable for this type of presentation, discuss?
Don't forget to add a slide on How to add buttons to your presentations, list in contents and hyperlink back to slide
Clue: Action Buttons
